A Bike Customized with Passion

The location of Rick’s bikes in Baden-Baden is Flugstrasse 1 and also this name carries a story. It was here that Zeppelin landed his airships when traveling the southern area of Germany. At first, Baden-Baden’s flight terminal was a stop over on the first ever air travel course Friedrichshafen/Baden-Baden/Mannheim. And Anthony Fokker screened his prototypes right here, just before they dominated the skies on the Western Front in World War I.

2 Years ago, the airport, just a shadow of its old range and significance, commemorated one hundred years, and aside from the vintage planes, it’s the low flying bikes at nearby House of Custom that bring in substantial attention.

There are always several high end, custom made motorcycles in the large showroom at Rick’s and quite often only a review with the original product reveals how highly refined Rick’s motor bikes are. When Harley launched the all new VRSCA V-Rod, Patrick Knoerzer of Rick’s Motorcycles and his team soon spearheaded the effort to pimp out and enhance the brand new design.

Before, almost all VRSCAs lacked tank total capacity and it was Rick’s that developed alternatives. His 280 V-Rod modifications are among the preferred in the marketplace and are generally very popular from certified Harley-Davidson sellers. But a totally built-by-Rick’s motorcycle is another thing, as this Low Flying Rod proves. It’s very straightforward to say Rick’s paints the motor and body, but only if you took your motorbike totally apart to perform this task would you visualize that incredible work load makes the whole difference between stock and rock! This motorcycle has been taken apart almost to last part, painted, powdercoated, and then put together into a low-rider muscle motorcycle. Most of the Rick’s V-Rod components has been utilized: front fender, short-cut tail end, saddle, and the tank cover up that combines the Speedo taken off its stock handlebar cover up place.

Most drivetrain parts as well as rims are with the 10-1/2″-wide rear wheel hosting a 280 Metzeler tire. To mount such a big tire on the stock V-Rod framework, they use a specifically developed offset pulley presenting an additional support bearing which takes the extra forces and more. Equipped with Legend air shocks, the motorcycle could easily be elevated from show-low to street-burning high.

The stock VRSCA delivers a mind-blowing 121 horses, which the 280 can well deliver to the road. This motorbike doesn’t pretend to be a muscle bike, it is a muscle motorbike!
