Product Handpick: Motorbike Battles

H-D and Indian’s rivalry is probably one of the greatest of all time. These two brands fought around the race track, in real wars, in dealer conventions, and out on the highway from the moment Harley managed to put up a fight while in the first decade of the 20th century up to Indian’s demise in the mid-1950s. The Harley and Indian Wars by Allan Girdler is an excellent addition to every bike lover’s collection as it covers this legendary competition right from the beginning to end.

I do think that the images and notes on them could be the most powerful portions of the book. Each page is packed with excellent, classic photos in the classic era, plus amazing color snap shots of the motorcycles in their reconditioned state. Every factor of this famous competition is featured in a well-written way that seamlessly walks the reader through the generations. Girdler offers delightful insight into what was going on behind the curtain at company headquarters in both Sprngfield and Milwaukee, plus what was taking place in the public eye.

Something I believe the book falls short of is a bit more of the very initial rivalry . It certainly covers it, yet not to the extent that I would’ve liked. Chapter 1 truly does present an excellent account of the building of the motorcycle and how it came to exist.

I realized something, although I could be entirely wrong here, but it looks as though the writer favors Indian a small bit. As soon as you read the book, inform me if you get a similar perception.

Before heading, just a friendly reminder from a rider to a fellow rider. When fitting add-ons, parts or improvements such as Z bars, Harley grips, fenders, pipes, and others, get the right stuff only. Get top notch products and then get them installed by experienced or trained Harley Davidson techs. Our motorcycles don’t come cheap and I bet you don’t like cheap pieces on it. This too falls straight into your safety. Cheaper products frequently fail easily whereas top notch products are manufactured to endure the strain an entire motorcycle persists on long trips.

Regardless if you choose an H-D or an Indian, at the end of the day, it is still destined to be you and the bike on that highway adventure! So, ride safely and have a completely happy trip!
